Privacy Policy — School Night

School Night stores your child’s reading record only on your device. One external service is used, and only for purchases. This page says exactly what that means.

What stays on your device, always

Everything you enter about your child never leaves your phone:

• your child’s first name, and optionally their grade or year
• reading minutes, dates, and any book titles you type
• pages read, if you turn that option on
• homework items you add
• your teacher’s name and email address, if you choose to save them
• your signature, if you draw one

There is no account, no sign-in and no server of ours. We never receive any of it and have no way to see it. It is included in your device’s normal iCloud or computer backup, which is controlled by you and by Apple, not by us.

The one external service: RevenueCat

Purchases are handled by Apple and verified through RevenueCat, a purchase-management service. When you open the unlock screen, make a purchase, or restore one, RevenueCat receives:

• an anonymous identifier it generates for the installation (not your name, email or Apple Account)
• purchase and receipt information from Apple, so your unlock can be verified and restored
• basic technical details such as country, device model and app version

RevenueCat never receives anything about your child — no name, no reading minutes, no book titles, no homework, no PDF. Those are structurally unable to reach it: the app only ever asks it about entitlements.

We do not use this information for advertising, we do not sell it, and there is no advertising or analytics SDK anywhere in the app.

Children’s data

School Night is designed for a parent or guardian to use about their child. It is not directed to children, has no child-facing mode, and shows no ads.

Because a child’s first name and reading record never leave the device, that information is never collected, transmitted or shared.

The free week

The app includes a seven-day free trial. The date it started is recorded in your device’s Keychain so that reinstalling does not silently restart it. That record is a date and nothing else — it contains no identifier and is never transmitted.

When information does leave the device

Only when you decide to send it:

• The PDF. When you tap send, the reading log is passed to whichever app you choose — Mail, Messages, Files, or another app. From there it is handled by that app and its own terms.
• The backup file. When you save a backup, it is written wherever you tell iOS to put it.

We never see either one.

Notifications

Reminders are scheduled locally on your device by iOS. There is no push server and no device token, so no notification data reaches us.

Your rights

Your reading data lives only on your device, so you control it completely. Deleting a child deletes their history; deleting the app removes everything. For the purchase record held by RevenueCat, email us and we will have it deleted.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date.
