Privacy Policy

The short version

Photobooth: Photo Strips is built to work entirely on your iPhone. There is no account to create, no analytics SDK watching what you do, no advertising, and we never see, collect, or sell your photos or videos. Everything the app does with your media — composing strips, applying filters, removing backgrounds — happens on your device, using Apple's on-device frameworks. This policy explains exactly what limited data exists and where it lives.

1. What the app accesses, and why

Photos & videos you choose to import

When you add a photo or video to a strip, the app uses Apple's PhotosPicker. This lets you pick specific items from your library without ever granting the app full read access to your Photos library — the app only receives the exact items you select, and only for as long as it takes to compose your strip or video, entirely in memory / temporary local storage on your device.

Saving what you create

When you export a finished strip or video, the app requests add-only Photos permission (NSPhotoLibraryAddUsageDescription) to write the result back into your library. This permission lets the app add new items — it does not let the app browse, read, or delete anything already in your library.

Camera & microphone

Camera access is used for live capture in Booth Mode (the kiosk feature) and for in-app photo/video capture. Microphone access is used only to record sound for videos that include audio. Neither the camera feed nor microphone audio is transmitted anywhere — capture and processing happen on-device.

On-device background removal

Some filters use Apple's Vision framework (person/foreground segmentation) to remove or replace backgrounds. This runs entirely on-device via Apple's built-in machine learning models — no image data is uploaded to any server to perform this.

2. Booth Mode & the local network

Booth Mode (the kiosk feature for events) can start a small web server so guests can scan a QR code with their own phone and download their photo strip over your local Wi-Fi network (NSLocalNetworkUsageDescription). Key facts:

• The server only runs while Booth Mode is active on your device and only serves the local network it is connected to — it is not reachable from the internet.
• Downloads are gated by short-lived, single-use tokens generated on-device for each session.
• Nothing captured or served during a Booth Mode session is sent to us, to RevenueCat, or to any other third party. It stays on the local network between your device and your guests' devices.

3. Accounts

Photobooth: Photo Strips does not have user accounts, sign-in, or a profile of any kind. There is nothing to register, and nothing tied to your identity that we hold.

4. Purchases

Subscriptions and one-time purchases (Photobooth Plus, Booth Pro, and Event Pass) are processed by Apple through StoreKit / In-App Purchase. We use RevenueCat as a purchase-infrastructure processor to validate receipts and manage entitlement state (i.e., which features you've unlocked). RevenueCat receives:

• An anonymous, app-generated purchaser identifier (not your name, email, or Apple ID).
• Transaction/receipt data needed to confirm and track entitlements (product purchased, purchase and expiration dates).

Apple separately processes your payment method as part of any App Store purchase, under Apple's own privacy policy. We do not receive or store your payment card details. See RevenueCat's privacy policy at revenuecat.com/privacy.

5. Analytics, advertising, tracking

None. This app contains no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, and no cross-app or cross-site tracking of any kind. We do not use the Advertising Identifier (IDFA), and the app does not show the App Tracking Transparency prompt because it does not track you.

6. Data retention

Photos and videos you import or create are processed transiently on-device and are retained only where you choose to save them — in your own Photos library, under your own control, subject to Apple's Photos app and iOS, not to us. We hold no copy anywhere. RevenueCat retains purchase/entitlement records for as long as needed to support your subscription and restore-purchases functionality, per its own retention practices.

7. Your rights (GDPR / CCPA and similar)

Because we do not collect, store, or have access to your photos, videos, or any personally identifiable information on our own servers, there is generally nothing for us to export, correct, or delete on your behalf — that data lives only on your device and in your Photos library, which you control directly through iOS Settings. For the limited anonymous purchase/entitlement data held by RevenueCat as our processor, you may:

• Request details of what is held, via the contact method below.
• Request deletion of that anonymous purchaser record (note: this does not affect your purchase history with Apple, which Apple retains independently).
• Manage or cancel subscriptions at any time via Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your iOS device, or at apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions.

Residents of the EEA/UK (GDPR) and California (CCPA/CPRA) have the rights described above to the extent they apply; contact us and we will respond within a reasonable time and in any case within the period required by applicable law.

8. Children's privacy

This app is not directed at children and is not marketed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app has no accounts and no analytics, no profile of any user — child or adult — is built or retained by us in the first place.

9. Changes to this policy

If our data practices change (for example, if a future version adds a new SDK or a cloud feature), we will update this page and revise the "last updated" date above.
